Yeduguri Sandinti Jagan Mohan Reddy was born on 21 December 1972 at Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, Jammalamadugu. He is currently 52 years old, as of 2025. He completed Bachelor of Commerce from Pragathi Mahavidyalaya and began his politics with Indian National Congress before founding the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in 2011

Family & Personal Life
Jagan wedded Y. S. Bharathi in 1996. The couple have two daughters—one of them, Varsha Reddy, finished her MSc in Finance from King’s College London with distinction in early 2025, giving both parents immense joy
Political Career
Jagan began with Indian National Congress and was Kadapa MP in 2009. After the death of his father, he began the “Odarpu Yatra” and began YSRCP in 2011. He became elected as Andhra Pradesh Leader of the Opposition in 2014 and was appointed Chief Minister in May 2019 and remained until June 2024.

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms, in 2023 Jagan was India’s wealthiest Chief Minister with assets worth around ₹510 crore. According to his 2024 election affidavit, the total net worth of the family—Jagan, wife, daughters—was around ₹757.65 crore, an increase of 48% in five years.
Controversies & Legal Affairs
- CBI/ED Arrest (2012–2013): Jagan was indicted on charges of corruption in the form of disproportionate asset accumulation through his father’s office. He was arrested and jailed for 16 months until September 2013
- 2025 Recent NCLT Order: The 2024 transfer of shares of Saraswati Power & Industries Pvt Ltd to sister Sharmila was ruled illegal by the National Company Law Tribunal and granted Jagan and his family judicial relief in an ongoing money-laundering case
- Family Row: Sharmila charged Jagan and ex-Telangana CM KCR with illegally taping phones in June 2025 to suppress her political ambitions. She sought an inquiry and asked the question in public
